Apparel²¹ Connect Shopify Integration Update
Apparel²¹ Connect is updating its Shopify integration as Shopify transitions from its legacy REST Admin API to GraphQL.
Why the integration is changing
Shopify is retiring its legacy REST Admin API in favour of GraphQL. Apparel²¹ Connect is moving to the updated technology to remain aligned with Shopify and improve how web store data moves through the integration.
GraphQL allows the integration to request the required information through fewer calls, supporting more efficient synchronisation and greater capacity during busy trading periods.
What’s improving
The updated Shopify integration will provide:
Faster, more efficient synchronisation: GraphQL can request the required data in a single call rather than relying on multiple connected requests.
Fewer synchronisation errors: Stricter validation helps identify issues earlier and more reliably.
Greater capacity during busy periods: Additional headroom within Shopify’s rate limits will help larger synchronisations complete more smoothly.
Long-term compatibility: Shopify is developing its new platform features on GraphQL, keeping Apparel²¹ Connect aligned with its current direction.
What this means for customers
The update will happen automatically, and no action is required.
Existing Shopify integrations, settings and data will carry across without interruption. Before each synchronisation is moved into production, the Apparel²¹ team will test it in the Sandbox environment to confirm that it is operating as expected.
Rollout timeline
The update is being completed in two phases:
Phase 1 – Monday, 14 September: Gift vouchers, customers and miscellaneous webhooks
Phase 2 – Monday, 5 October: Products, stock and orders
